From the friendly match with Cambodia
Vietnam had a favorable opening match of the 3rd qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup with a 5-0 victory over Laos at Binh Duong Stadium on the evening of March 25.
Previously, coach Kim Sang-sik's team faced many mixed comments after a hard-fought victory over the Cambodian team. That was a match in which the Vietnamese team had many deadlocked moments, even made many mistakes.
But objectively, the Korean strategist did not consider the friendly match with Cambodia as an experiment. In addition to Viet Hung's position, the rest are names that are very familiar to the Vietnam team in the most recent tournament, the ASEAN Cup 2024.

The performance of the players in the match against Cambodia helped coach Kim Sang-sik make appropriate adjustments in the starting lineup against Laos in the opening match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
It was the reasonable changes that helped the Vietnamese team have an overwhelming match against Laos in all aspects. That is something we could not do in the friendly match with Cambodia a few days ago.
Uniformity of collective play
Compared to the match against Cambodia, the Vietnam team made 5 changes to the starting lineup. Those were the cases in which Van Vi and Tien Anh were chosen to replace Van Thanh and Viet Hung on the two wings.
Meanwhile, Chau Ngoc Quang, Nguyen Vo Minh Khoa and Tien Linh also started from the start to replace Ngoc Tan, Quang Hai and Tuan Hai compared to the previous match.
The blocking position in the defense, in addition to the versatile playing style, speed and enduring physical strength of Van Vi and Tien Anh on the two wings.
Hoang Duc still showed his tactical vision in keeping the rhythm of the game, Ngoc Quang in a rare start for the Vietnamese team also brought home the opening goal.
Hai Long continued to show impressive form when contributing with 1 goal.

The harmonious connection and smooth operation of the entire Vietnam team under the hands of coach Kim Sang-sik has affirmed its strength.
We played a perfect match without any mistakes, a completely different change from the friendly match with Cambodia not long ago.
The personnel adjustments of coach Kim Sang-sik in the second half also brought stability to the playing style of the Vietnamese team.
Quang Hai, despite coming off the bench, still managed to put his name on the scoreboard with the goal that sealed the 5-0 victory after a beautiful combination with his teammates.
In the match against the Laos team, we won by a large margin with the sublimation of the whole team with diverse attacking situations instead of individual shining moments.
