Recently, the Vietnam Football Federation officially issued document No. 1233/LDBDVN-ĐHTT responding to The Cong - Viettel Club regarding the controversial situation in the match against PVF-CAND in round 24 of V.League 2025-2026.
Accordingly, in the 20th minute, the player wearing jersey number 11 of PVF-CAND dribbled into the 16m50 area of The Cong Viettel (at the position near the horizontal line on the side of assistant referee 2), then passed the ball back to teammate number 79 who was in the penalty area.
After controlling the ball and preparing to perform a kick, player number 79 of PVF-CAND team fell in the penalty area of The Cong Viettel.
Main referee Tran Ngoc Nho determined that the defensive player of The Cong Viettel team committed a foul and awarded PVF-CAND a penalty. This decision was maintained after Mr. Nho directly checked the VAR.
Through a professional evaluation process, VFF concluded that the decision to award a penalty by referee Tran Ngoc Nho was inaccurate, and at the same time proposed specific forms of handling.
The Vietnam Football Federation said it will implement the temporary suspension of the assignment of tasks for this referee in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of international football organizations as well as the current regulations of the VFF.
This agency also emphasized its commitment to continue to closely monitor refereeing work to ensure the honesty, objectivity and professional quality of the tournament.
