On the evening of August 29, before Duy Manh went to the US for surgery, his wife Quynh Anh posted a letter sharing about the upcoming journey of the family.
The WAG wrote: "A new journey begins... To be able to reach today, my family has received a lot of love, companionship and help from people I will always respect and be grateful to.
My husband - Duy Manh has always tried and tried his best. He has sacrificed a lot, gone through many difficulties to live with his passion, to wear the national team and club jersey that he is always proud of.
And this injury forced him to stop for a bit - perhaps this is also the time for him to slow down, look back at the journey he has gone through and prepare for a new journey ahead, stronger, more mature many times over.
Quynh Anh said that the family will go through the upcoming stage with Duy Manh with the trust in her husband, medical team and companions.
She also mentioned her two children and relatives before the family temporarily separated: "Goodbye - temporarily separate from my two beloved children U and Cony, temporarily separate from my beloved family".
Previously, Duy Manh suffered a fractured knee before the Vietnam national team gathering to prepare for the ASEAN Cup 2026. Although unable to play, he still accompanied the team in the preparation process and was directly present in the stands of My Dinh Stadium in the second leg final.
After the Vietnamese team successfully defended the championship, Hai Long and Xuan Manh held jerseys named Duy Manh to celebrate. This center-back was then facilitated by Hanoi FC to go to the US to completely treat his injury.
Duy Manh departed on the evening of August 29th and is expected to take at least 6 months to recover after surgery. He will be absent from the first leg of V.League 2026-2027, and miss the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 and is likely not to be able to return in time for the Asian Cup 2027 finals.
