On the sidelines of the press conference for the 2024-2025 National Super Cup match on the afternoon of August 5, coach Vu Hong Viet revealed the current situation of striker Nguyen Xuan Son.
He said: "Xuan Son is currently in his home country of Brazil to practice recovery, the possibility of returning in the first leg of this year's tournament is difficult. We hope that in the second leg, this player will return to play with the team".
This means that Xuan Son will not be able to participate in the 2024-2025 National Super Cup match against Nam Dinh FC.
Last year, the naturalized striker born in 1997 scored a double, contributing to helping the team from Thanh Nam win the 2023-2024 Super Cup right at Thien Truong Stadium.
However, Nam Dinh still ensures a force, including quality foreign and domestic players to welcome Hanoi Police - the reigning National Cup champion in the upcoming Super Cup match.
Before the important match, striker Van Toan emphasized: "Nam Dinh has many foreign players because next season they will have to participate in many tournaments. Therefore, the competition for positions in the team is very big, but this is a good thing for the team.
The current Nam Dinh players are ready to wait for the new season. We hope to achieve all the titles that Nam Dinh participates in, including the Super Cup".
On the other side, goalkeeper Filip Nguyen of Hanoi Police said: "The super cup match with Thanh Hoa in 2023 is an unforgettable memory for me. To avoid repeated failures, we have been well prepared, not just for one match but for the whole upcoming new season."
The 2024-2025 National Super Cup will take place at 6:00 p.m. on August 9 at Thien Truong Stadium (Ninh Binh province).
