A locality plans to reduce 50% of competitions for teachers and students
Ho Chi Minh City plans to review and streamline about 50% of the number of competitions and contests for teachers and students from the 2026-2027 school year.
The information was shared by Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training - at the conference summarizing the 2025-2026 school year and deploying tasks for the 2026-2027 school year for general education, August 13.
According to Mr. Quoc, in the new school year, the Department of Education and Training will review and re-evaluate all contests and competitions being organized, with the orientation of possibly reducing the number by about 50%.
One of the notable changes is the plan to remove the 9th grade excellent student exam at the city level, replacing it with the Olympic playground. Many candidates are absent on the day of re-exam procedures in Tuyen Quang
Information from the Ministry of Education and Training, during the re-exam procedure session on the afternoon of August 13 at the exam site of Tuyen Quang Specialized High School, 323 candidates came to complete exam procedures, reaching a rate of 98.48% compared to the total number of candidates eligible to register for the exam.
