According to the book "Fast Food" (Women's Publishing House), ham-rolled rice is a suitable suggestion to change the taste for breakfast or prepare lunch to bring with you. The dish has a simple cooking method, harmoniously combining white rice, vegetables and ham, both nutritious and convenient to move around.
To prepare a dish for about 6 people, it is necessary to prepare:
- 4 bowls of white rice
- 200g ham
- 160g fish floss
- 200g green beans
- 1 carrot
- 1 bell pepper with spices such as salt, seasoning powder, cooking oil and skewers to fix when rolling.
First, carrots, green beans and bell peppers are washed and diced. Green beans alone need to be removed from both ends before being chopped.
After preliminary processing, add a little cooking oil to the pan, and stir-fry the vegetables in turn. Season with about 2 teaspoons of seasoning and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, stir well until the vegetables are just cooked, then turn off the heat and let cool.
Next, mix white rice well with fish floss and the stir-fried vegetables. Divide the mixture into small portions and then use your hands to hold them tightly to create bite-sized rice balls. Holding hands tightly helps the rice stick better, not to detach when rolled or held.
Cut ham into thin slices, pan-fry quickly to enhance aroma and firmness. Then, use each piece of ham wrapped around the rice ball, fix with a skewer to maintain the shape.
The finished product is colorful rice balls with the orange color of carrots, green of okra and red of bell peppers, combined with a layer of fragrant and soft ham on the outside.
When enjoying, the chewy taste of the rice blends with the rich taste of fish floss and the natural sweetness of vegetables, creating an attractive, easy-to-eat but not greasy dish.
Ham rolls are not only suitable for breakfast but also a convenient choice for office lunch, picnics or picnics with family and friends.
