On the morning of July 13, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thanh, Chairman of Sa Huynh Ward People's Committee, Quang Ngai province, confirmed that a drowning incident had just occurred in the area, killing 2 people and 1 boy is still missing.
Previously, at about 5:45 pm on July 12, Ms. Bui Thi Tr. (67 years old), Ms. Le Thi Ch. (60 years old) and her grandson Vo Van Thanh N. (5 years old, Ms. Ch.'s grandson), all residing in Thach By 2 residential group, Sa Huynh ward, were swept away by large waves while swimming in the beach area of Thach By 2 embankment.
Immediately after discovering the incident, Sa Huynh Border Guard Station coordinated with local authorities and people to urgently deploy search operations for the victims. By 6:20 pm on the same day, functional forces had found the bodies of Ms. Tr. and Ms. Ch. Currently, rescue forces are still coordinating with people to expand the scope and actively search for baby N.
