In the early fall golden sunlight shining down the cat's ear rocky mountain slopes, the sound of laughter resounded from the kitchen of DK Viet Nhat Electric Vehicle Company Limited (DK Bike, Tam Thanh Ward, Lang Son City). On a simple but full and hot meal tray, workers gather together to share daily stories.
Few people remember that nearly a year ago, there was a big fire here. The fire did not cause any human casualties but burned down the entire factory, estimated damage of about 300 billion VND.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hue - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of DK Bike Company - shared: "After the incident, all leaders and employees unanimously overcame difficulties to restore production. Up to now, production and business activities have basically stabilized".
According to Ms. Hue, this year, the company organized a Warm Union Meal worth 120,000 VND/meal. Along with that, union members and workers are also equipped with useful knowledge about HIV/AIDS prevention and control, raising awareness of health protection for themselves, their families and the community. The company also implemented many activities to celebrate National Day such as decorating the workplace, organizing for 100% of officers and employees to watch the film "Red Rain", directly watching the parade in Hanoi, visiting the exhibition of 80 years of national achievements and traveling to Hai Phong with the family, with a total of nearly 200 participants", Ms. Hue informed.
Ms. Hoang Thi Tuoi, a worker at the company, emotionally said: "Sitting down to eat with colleagues, there is hot soup, green vegetables, full meat and fish, feeling warm as if eating at home, not work-household rice".
In the border area, where life is still difficult, most of the workers are ethnic minorities, with low incomes, and often have few meals. Therefore, the Union Meal becomes a special joy, a spiritual encouragement that helps them become more attached to work and colleagues.
Many workers share that, through these meals, they clearly feel the concern of the union not only in improving working conditions, but also in spiritual life.
Ms. Be Thi Hoa - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of the Lang Son Provincial Federation of Labor - said that up to now, 43/45 units have organized or registered to organize the Union Meal, attracting over 5,300 union members and workers to participate. "Caring for workers, civil servants, and laborers does not stop at policies and regimes but must also be present in the most practical things. The Union Meal is the opportunity for union members to feel the support of the organization most clearly, Ms. Hoa emphasized.
Ms. Hoa also informed that the Provincial Trade Union is coordinating with businesses to improve daily shift meals. Instead of don dishes, many factories have built a rich menu to ensure nutrition. This is not only a material care, but also a demonstration of social responsibility, the solidarity for sustainable development between businesses and workers, affirmed the Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor.
In the midst of the bustling life at border gates, import-export, construction, services... The Union meal is like a "pass" of connection, helping workers stop to enjoy a peaceful moment, to see themselves shared and respected.
