According to the Vatican's process, candidates for the catwalk must go through a strict investigation process. First of all, they need to be recognized as a miracle to declare the foot of the cross, then the second miracle will pave the way to be recognized as a Saint.
Unusual miracles involving healing that science cannot explain are confirmed by health experts, psychological counselors and witnesses before the Pope makes a final decision.
Carlos Acutis's case began with the story of a Brazilian boy named Mattheus, born in 2009, who suffered from congenital pancreatic malformations that exhausted his body, weighing only 9kg when he was 4 years old. His mother, Mrs. Luciana Vianna, and Father Marcelo Tenorio, called for prayers to Acutis.
After the 2013 praying ceremony, Mattheus suddenly ate normally and completely recovered from his illness. The Vatican recognized this as the first miracle, bringing Acutis to the Order in 2020.
The second strange incident happened in 2022 with an Italian girl named Valeria Valverde.
After a serious bicycle accident in Florence, Valverde's health is predicted to be very poor. Six days later, her mother, Mrs. Liliana, went to the Acutis mausoleum in Assisi to pray. On the same day, Valverde suddenly recovered, did not need a ventilator, and quickly regained his mobility and ability to speak. Two months later, she fully recovered. The Vatican confirmed that this was the second miracle that had helped Acutis qualify for be canonized.
Carlo Acutis has shown compassion and faith since childhood. He donated small spots of money to the poor, supported disabled classmates, and participated in charity activities. As a computer god, Acutis learned to write code on his own, built websites for Catholic organizations and created websites to record miracles in the world. He once warned his friends that the Internet can both bring both blessings and dangers.
When Acutis passed away, his funeral was crowded with poor people - those who had been secretly helped by him. His body is currently in a glass coffin in Assisi, wearing jeans, shoes and a sporting jacket. The heart of Acutis, considered a sanctuary, is currently kept at the Madrid Cathedral of St. Francis in Assisi.
