Happy place
“At that time, I was like a dry tree encountering a shower of rain.” More than 2 years have passed, but Mr. Le Phu Thuan, a worker in the material receiving department of An Giang Samho Company Limited located in Binh Hoa Industrial Park (An Giang), still has the same emotions about the moment he received tens of millions of VND that the Trade Union mobilized employees in the unit to contribute to support.
After learning about Mr. Thuan's family situation: his mother was sick, his wife had cancer... The Chairman of the Company's Trade Union, Vo Thanh Nha, on one hand consulted with the executive board to consider emergency support from the union's financial resources, and on the other hand sent a notice to mobilize employees in the unit to join hands to share. Because it had been set up before, as soon as it was launched, all employees in the unit immediately responded with a total amount of more than 10 million VND.
This is one of thousands of cases receiving happiness from the care and support of the company's Trade Union. Mr. Nha said that on average, each year the Trade Union spends 100% of its permitted financial resources to take care of employees with a total amount of about 6 billion VND/year to give gifts, cash support on holidays, Tet, funerals, weddings and many other collective recreational activities...
Whenever a union member or employee is found to have a particularly difficult family situation, the union sends full information to the internal network system... From there, the collective of employees voluntarily contributes to help their colleagues cover part of the cost.
According to Mr. Nha, the average total amount of this contribution is up to over 200-300 million VND. In many cases, the support amount is up to tens of millions of VND, such as: Mr. Tran Van Liep (over 90 million VND), Mr. Nguyen Tan Vinh (nearly 90 million VND)...
Safe haven in the midst of the “storm”
Not only does it promptly and warmly care for the material and spiritual life of union members and employees, with the ingenuity and dedication of a united and unified collective, the Company's Trade Union also creates for itself a position as a safe haven when "storms" occur. By the end of 2022, the company will have up to 5,000 employees reduced or lost their jobs because the business has reduced orders.
Although the company's leaders have sent information to employees in accordance with the law, the fact that 3,500 employees with less than 1 year of work experience lost their jobs and had their income reduced near Tet is considered quite sensitive. Because not only is it difficult to find replacement jobs, but it also affects the Tet atmosphere of the employees' families.
Faced with that “boiling oil, burning fire” situation, the company’s Trade Union stepped in. “The members of the Trade Union Executive Committee were like shuttles, both settling internal conflicts and connecting and taking care of external units,” recalled Mr. Tran Luu Phong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Zones of An Giang Province.
Not only proactively working with the industrial park trade unions and the Provincial Federation of Labor to support workers with 500,000 VND to temporarily stabilize their lives and feel secure, the grassroots trade union also systematized the incident, presented, advised, and persuaded the company's leaders to agree to pay more than 6 billion VND in support for nearly 3,000 workers who lost their jobs to receive money before Tet 2023.
And that was not the only time the company's Trade Union persuaded the leadership to increase spending for employees. The Trade Union proposed and persuaded the leadership to invest in many items to serve the common needs of more than 7,000 employees, such as: Installing TVs in the collective dining room, increasing the average attendance allowance from 200,000 to 500,000 VND, increasing the travel allowance from 200,000 VND to 312,000 VND..., increasing welfare regimes for more than 5,000 female employees such as: Giving gifts on March 8, October 20, maternity...
By 2023, the Trade Union proactively advised the company's leaders to organize a cooking contest "Samho Family Meal" for nearly 200 female union members at the President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site.
Not only creating a healthy playground, but also cultivating the spirit of dedication and dedication of Uncle Ton for employees to better perform their work tasks at the company. Thereby contributing to enhancing the position of the Trade Union organization in protecting, caring for and harmonizing the interests of employees and employers.
