More than 19 years attached to the business, Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, a worker at Phong Hai Joint Stock Company, lives with his wife and two children in the company's collective housing area.
The house is degraded, his wife has no stable job, and two children are of school age, making family life difficult.
Grasping the situation of the union member, Bao Thang Commune Trade Union surveyed and prepared a dossier requesting the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation to support his family in building a "Trade Union Shelter" house.
From the "Trade Union Shelter" Fund, Mr. Cuong's family was supported with 50 million VND. Construction started in April 2026, and by July, the house was basically completed and put into use.
For Mr. Cuong's family, the new house not only helps stabilize the living space but is also a support for him to feel secure in working and taking care of his wife and children.
Mr. Cuong's story is one of many cases of union members and workers being supported by the trade union organization.
The common point is that support all starts from trade union officials grasping the situation, listening to needs and finding suitable solutions.

That is also the spirit of "Month of listening to union members and workers speak" implemented by Lao Cai Provincial Trade Union levels in July 2026.
Through 71 meetings and dialogues, 4,516 union members and workers directly raised concerns; 320 opinions and recommendations were recorded, answered, processed or summarized, and transferred to competent authorities for consideration.
The issues raised mainly directly related to life such as employment, income, policies, working hours and working conditions.
Along with dialogues and activities at the grassroots level, Lao Cai Trade Union has provided legal advice to 44 turns of union members and workers, focusing on issues such as termination of labor contracts, maternity benefits, and leave.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem, Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation, shared: "With the trade union organization, the effectiveness is not only in the number of dialogues or the number of participants, but in specific actions to always ensure the rights of workers.
