On August 25, the Military Command of Khanh Hoa province - the standing agency of the Steering Committee for implementing the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains" of Khanh Hoa province coordinated with the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Dien Khanh commune to organize a flower and incense offering ceremony to commemorate heroic martyrs.
After the memorial ceremony, the forces organized the relocation and handover of 13 martyrs' remains to Hon Dung Martyrs' Cemetery (Tay Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province).
These are martyrs' remains that the Repatriation Team of martyrs' remains under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command coordinated with officers, soldiers of the armed forces and standing militia of Dien Khanh commune to search for and repatriate in the old prison area in Dien Khanh Citadel.
According to historical documents and collected information, the old prison area was once the burial place of many officers and soldiers who bravely sacrificed themselves during the resistance war.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dien Khanh commune said that in the past time, with the attention, direction and assistance of the Steering Committee of the 500 Days and Nights Campaign of Khanh Hoa province, the locality has conducted surveys, organized excavations and gathered at the Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel prison area.
After a week of searching, the forces discovered and exhumed 13 sets of remains of martyrs.
Through field surveys, functional forces determined that this area still has many martyrs' remains.
Therefore, the Provincial Steering Committee and local Party committees and authorities decided to continue to expand the search scope in the old prison area in Dien Khanh Citadel, with the highest sense of responsibility and determination to search for and repatriate the remains of the remaining martyrs.
At the ceremony, in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, delegates, officers, soldiers of the armed forces, veterans, people and relatives of martyrs offered flowers and incense to commemorate, expressing gratitude for the sacrifices of heroic martyrs for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
After the incense offering ceremony, the forces solemnly carried out the relocation and handover of 13 martyrs' remains to be buried at Hon Dung Martyrs' Cemetery to continue preparing steps to serve the memorial service and burial according to regulations.
