According to Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Chairman of the Union, on Saturday (September 7), day shift workers still worked as usual, only night shift workers had a day off to avoid the storm. On Sunday morning (September 8), workers went to work as usual and all leaders and managers were present to manage the work. The company's production facilities were not damaged by the storm, so production continued as usual.
At ASTI Electronics Hanoi Co., Ltd. (Quang Minh Industrial Park), Mr. Nguyen Duc Nhan - Chairman of the company's Trade Union - said that the number of employees working on Saturday (September 7) will be given a day off to work the following Saturday. Sunday is a day off for the entire company. On Sunday afternoon (September 8), the responsible department will check the electrical system to ensure that the company can produce normally on Monday (September 10).
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Chairman of the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Union - said that, based on the unit's understanding, there have only been cases of trees falling due to storms. Most companies let their employees take Saturday (September 7) off to avoid the storm and switch to working the following Saturday.
According to Ms. Cao Thi Thu Trang (worker at Thang Long Industrial Park, Dong Anh District, Hanoi), her company gave her a day off from Friday night (September 6) to avoid the storm. Last week, she was one of the workers working the third shift (at night). She is not sure if the company will count this day off as a vacation day, or if the company will arrange for workers to work on another day. The
female worker's boarding house in Mai Chau village, Dai Mach commune, Dong Anh district is safe after storm No. 3.
“During the night of September 7 and early morning of September 8, the place where I rented a room lost power. In addition, a metal roof of a nearby house was blown down onto the street by the wind; many trees were broken. The room where I stayed did not suffer any significant damage,” said Ms. Trang. The female worker from Nam Dinh went to work on Monday (September 9).
Workers safe, back to work
In Bac Giang, speaking to reporters, Mr. Ha Minh Vi - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Industrial Parks Trade Union - said that all enterprises in the industrial parks were safe after the storm, only one company had its temporary parking roof blown off by the wind, the damage was insignificant. All companies will return to work on September 9.
Mr. Ha Minh Vi added that previously, all companies had workers off from 3:00 p.m. on September 6 to get home in time to avoid the storm. On September 7, all enterprises (scheduled to work overtime on Sunday) gave workers the day off. Currently, there are about 200,000 workers in the industrial parks of Bac Giang province.
Similarly, in Bac Ninh province, many companies also let workers leave work early on the afternoon of September 6 to avoid the storm.
“After the storm, all businesses were safe, only a few had their roofs blown off, but the damage was not significant. All companies closed on September 8 and will resume work on September 9,” said Mr. Tran Van Hieu, Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks in Bac Ninh Province.
