"Wringing up" construction during Tet
At the construction site of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, hundreds of workers and machinery and equipment worked in 3 shifts, 4 shifts, throughout Tet to ensure the technical opening of the entire route in 2025, in time to connect to Long Thanh airport.
According to Lao Dong, the units are currently accelerating construction to ensure the target set by the Traffic Construction Investment Management Board (Traffic Board) is to complete a number of items of the XL1 package (scope of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway interchange) before April 30, 2025 to synchronize with the Nhon Trach bridge construction package.
At the same time, the larger goal of the project is to technically open the entire 14.7km of Ring Road 3 (viaduct) belonging to 5 construction packages in Thu Duc City by December 31, 2025; technically open the entire 32.62km of Ring Road 3 belonging to 5 construction packages in Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Binh Chanh districts by April 30, 2026; and open the entire Ring Road 3 section through Ho Chi Minh City by June 30, 2026.
"Enjoying the New Year without forgetting the task" - Mr. Pham Van Thang - Deputy General Director of Thai Yen Construction Investment Joint Stock Company - a member of the consortium implementing the XL3 package said and informed that the unit has focused on 3 shifts, 4 teams of construction workers, working through Tet to ensure the completion progress by the end of 2025.
Mr. Duong Van Lien (from Nghe An, a worker at XL3 package, section through Thu Duc City) shared that he has been working on the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project for nearly a year. In recent days, the working atmosphere at the construction site has become more exciting because the contractors are competing to complete many project goals in 365 days.
"I feel very honored to contribute to the city's key project. My colleagues and I will try our best to complete our mission," said Mr. Lien.
As for Mr. Hai (a worker at the XL5 package), he said that the project is in the final stages, so he and many other workers try to work at full capacity, even on Tet holiday.
“It would be a lie to say I don’t miss home. But because of my livelihood and work responsibilities, I am still happy to stay at the construction site with many other workers. Everyone encourages each other that this is an important project, so everyone should be more responsible, work quickly, but ensure quality,” said Hai.
Ensure progress while taking care of workers' lives
Mr. Le Ngoc Hung - Deputy Director of the Traffic Department - said that up to now, 10 bidding packages of the Ring Road 3 project through Ho Chi Minh City are in the acceleration phase, focusing on the substructure of the bridge, girder installation, weak soil treatment... The output of 10 bidding packages reached about 30% of the construction value, basically meeting the progress according to the plan.
According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Traffic Department - during the holidays and Tet this year, some key projects must be continuously constructed to ensure progress such as the An Phu intersection project, Ring Road 3... The Traffic Department has discussed with contractors, in addition to visiting, encouraging, and giving gifts to workers at the construction site, it is also studying to have a bonus policy for projects that are ahead of schedule. At the same time, replicate the model for other projects to promote the spirit of competition, creativity, and completion of assigned tasks.
The Ring Road 3 project through Ho Chi Minh City has a total length of 47.3km with a total investment of VND41,317 billion (construction VND22,411 billion, site clearance VND18,906 billion). The project has 10 main construction packages, of which 4 packages will start construction in 2023 and 6 packages will start construction in 2024.
The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, together with other routes such as Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, the North - South high-speed railway, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh light railway... will form a complete transportation system, not only helping to connect synchronously with Long Thanh airport but also opening a new chapter in trade of goods, attracting investment and developing logistics...
