Understanding Ms. Phuong's difficult situation, Bao Viet Group's Trade Union supported 55 million VND, and the Commune Women's Union supported an additional 10 million VND to help her build a new house.
The day she received the handover of the Trade Union Shelter, Ms. Phuong's eyes filled with tears of emotion.
“Thanks to the care of the Trade Union and all levels, my family of 5 has a place to shelter from the sun and rain. This is a dream that I thought I would never have in my whole life because it was too difficult" - Ms. Phuong shared.
Ms. Phuong is one of 50 difficult and vulnerable cases awarded the Trade Union Shelter by all levels of Trade Union in Quang Nam, a total amount of more than 2 billion VND, since the beginning of 2024.
Similarly, more than 3 years ago, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dao, a worker at Anh Sang Garment Factory 2 (Binh Trung commune, Thang Binh district) almost collapsed when she discovered she had thyroid cancer.
“My family's situation is still too difficult, all living expenses rely only on the worker's salary. At that time, without the support and encouragement of my brothers and sisters in the factory and the Trade Union, I would not have been able to endure. From the day I got sick, the company arranged me a suitable job to maintain my income to fight the disease" - Ms. Dao said.
Stand side by side with union members
Mr. Phan Xuan Quang - Chairman of the Labor Confederation of Quang Nam province - said that taking care of the life of union members and protecting the rights of workers is the mission of the Trade Union organization. For Quang Nam, this task is carried out throughout with the motto "Where there are workers, there is a trade union".
In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, from the support sources of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, financial resources of the Provincial Trade Union, and sources of socialization mobilization, the Provincial Confederation of Labor has visited and given gifts to more than 5,800 union members and sick workers. dangerous situations, labor accidents, occupational diseases, especially difficult circumstances...
In addition, from the financial resources of trade unions at all levels in the province, they have supported more than 81,089 union members and workers in difficult circumstances with a total amount of more than 40 billion VND.
For union members facing difficulties due to job loss, reduced working hours when businesses lack orders, have orders cut off..., the Provincial Labor Confederation has worked with all levels of Communist Unions to propagate and implement support policies. . As a result, support was considered for 431 union members and workers with a total amount of 625 million VND.
To date, the number of workers with regular jobs accounts for 75%. Average income in July 2024 in the administrative and non-business sector: 6 million VND/person/month; State-owned enterprise sector reached 5.8 million VND/person/month; FDI enterprises reached 6.5 million VND/person/month. There are no labor disputes in the province.

By the end of June 2024, Quang Nam had 962 businesses registered to temporarily suspend business, waiting for liquidation and dissolution procedures, an increase of 9.57% over the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, there were only 542 businesses. newly registered establishments and 291 businesses returned to operation, leading to an increase in the number of workers changing jobs and losing jobs compared to the same period in 2023.
