According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, in July 2026, the employment picture in the Capital will continue to be vibrant, but the pressure to shift the quality of personnel will become increasingly greater according to some major trends.
Fierce competition for personnel in the field of construction and infrastructure: Rapid progress from super projects such as Ring Road 4, Ring Road 2.5 project; network of 7 large bridges over the Red River... pushing the construction industry into a fierce wave of competition. Many general contractors are forced to improve their remuneration, engineers' salaries/income reach 30–55 million VND/month, technical workers reach 22–29 million VND, professional mechanics reach 16–65 million VND/month.
Shifting service criteria and shifting production areas: The food and service business sector improves the criteria set, prioritizing multi-tasking candidates with good foreign language skills when Hanoi City enters the peak of summer tourism and large accommodation complexes are preparing to open. The industrial production sector is gradually shifting to the suburbs, causing opportunities for simple labor in the inner city to be significantly narrowed.
Shifting from "construction" to "operation": When a series of large projects enter the completion or roofing phase, market demand will strongly shift to the group of personnel managing buildings, maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, and technicians operating stations/urban infrastructure.
According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, in June 2026, the labor market has a clear differentiation. The demand for job search is strongest concentrated in two groups: the group with university degrees (32.5%) and the group without training (31.2%). This figure reflects that the supply of high-quality, formally qualified labor is very abundant, ready to meet the development needs of service, technology and management industries.
The group of untrained workers accounts for 31.2%. This is the group of candidates for jobs that do not require qualifications, often have low stability, high job turnover rates or seasonal workers lose their jobs and have to find new jobs.
In general, the job search trend of workers is concentrated at two poles, either with high professional qualifications or without qualifications. This indicates the reality of "surplus, shortage of quality". The supply of general labor and office workers is surplus, exceeding actual demand. Conversely, the group of skilled technical workers (intermediate/college level) and highly qualified professional workers who meet the strict standards of businesses are seriously lacking," said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Hanoi Employment Service Center.
