Teachers and contract staff receive salaries after complaints
Since the beginning of 2026, more than 230 teachers and contract staff in Nghe An have fallen into a situation of paying salaries late for many months. Many people have decades of seniority, achieved many achievements, persistently stick to schools and classes but do not have salaries because there is no autonomy from schools, while the budget cannot be allocated to pay.
Faced with the above reality, Lao Dong Newspaper has had many articles reflecting and stating the difficulties, frustrations and legitimate recommendations of the team of contract teachers and staff.
Dr. Nguyen Van Khoa, leader of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, informed that the sector is reviewing the entire contract team, coordinating with departments and branches to advise on solutions to ensure the rights of workers, avoiding prolonging the situation of "unpaid work".
After the newspaper reflected, Nghe An province directed to review and allocate funding to support payments. Some educational units were subsidized and implemented backlog payments. Up to now, many teachers have received 6 months' salaries at the beginning of 2026, stabilizing their psychology and lives.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper also reported that some teachers in Nghe An faced difficulties in completing procedures to pay for the regime of teaching disabled students in the integrated education method. The reason is that some educational institutions require teachers to supplement separate lesson plans, update to the VNEDU system from the beginning of the school year and some other evidence.
After the newspaper was published, on June 15, 2026, the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province issued Notice No. 161/TB-SGD&ĐT, unifying the dossier components, procedures and deadlines for admission consideration. The dossier only includes the list of integrated disabled students, personal education plans and teacher assignment decisions. The Department affirmed that it does not require separate lesson plans or the condition of "compulsory VNEDU update" from the beginning of the school year. The new regulations help remove prolonged obstacles, creating favorable conditions for teachers to access the regime.
Consulting and supporting relatives of workers injured in accidents
In another development, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc (resident of Truong Vinh ward) said that she had received hundreds of millions of VND in allowances and compensation after her husband, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Khanh, died in a workplace accident at the construction site.
Previously, representatives of Thai Thinh General Consulting and Construction Joint Stock Company only agreed to support about 100 million VND and requested the family to terminate all petitions and complaints. Ms. Cuc also encountered difficulties in accessing documents, and the case was prolonged and not resolved.
Through studying legal regulations, reporters advised Ms. Cuc about the rights: In case an employee dies due to a work accident, the employer must compensate an amount equivalent to 30 months of current salary and other benefits.
Reporters also directly exchanged with businesses, requesting to comply with regulations; and at the same time exchanged with leaders of the Department of Home Affairs of Nghe An province, requesting to soon investigate labor accidents to resolve regimes for families and write articles published in Lao Dong Newspaper.
“In the process of resolving the case, I received enthusiastic, responsible, and dedicated advice from Lao Dong Newspaper reporters. The voice of Lao Dong Newspaper has a great influence, helping me to soon receive my husband's benefits” - Ms. Cuc shared.
From the above cases, it shows that after the press's reflection and the involvement of functional agencies, many obstacles regarding the payment mechanism and policies for workers in Nghe An have been gradually removed. The sincere thanks and recognition of workers and people are a great motivation for journalists to continue to firmly hold their pens, protecting vulnerable people and workers.
