Many factories were destroyed by Typhoon Yagi
On the morning of September 9, in contrast to the daily enthusiastic working atmosphere, many workers of Wayne Co., Ltd. (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong) came to the company with a heavy heart, looking sadly at the devastated factory. The entire roof of the factory of nearly 6,000 square meters was swept away by the storm, and the aluminum and iron frames were also broken. According to the representative of the company's leadership, the factory was seriously damaged, so it may have to be rebuilt. It will take at least another month for the company to be able to fix it and return to production.
At Daito Rubber Co., Ltd., on the morning of September 9, many workers sat along the company's hallway to work because the factory's roof was blown off and severely damaged after storm No. 3. The company's union representative said that the company is also having to give a group of about 60 workers a leave of absence for the next 2 weeks to deal with the consequences.
Two days after storm No. 3 passed, the factory of Vina Bigo Company Limited was still like a “battlefield”. Two other factories of nearly 2,000m2 of this company were severely damaged. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom, a worker of the company, said: “When we came to the company and saw this scene, we were very sad, the damage was too severe”.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Xuan - Chairman of the company's Trade Union, the unit plans to let 130 workers take about a month off while waiting to fix the consequences. The company has contacted factory repair units to quickly fix the problem, but at the earliest it will take 1 month to partially fix it. The repair cost according to the company is also very large.
In addition to the three units mentioned above, many factories in industrial parks were severely damaged by storm No. 3. Initial estimates show that nearly 100 businesses in the industrial park suffered damage due to storm No. 3, estimated at thousands of billions of VND.
Support businesses to quickly overcome consequences and restore production
On the morning of September 9, leaders of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation visited and encouraged a number of businesses that suffered heavy losses due to storm No. 3 in the Japanese Industrial Park - Hai Phong. At the businesses, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation - shared the damage and loss with the businesses, hoping that the businesses would soon overcome the consequences of the natural disaster to resume production. At the same time, he directed the grassroots trade union to encourage workers to accompany the businesses during the difficult period; pay attention to policies for workers who have to take time off while waiting to overcome the consequences. The Hai Phong City Labor Federation also awarded a support fund of 10 million VND to each business.
Along with supporting and encouraging businesses, the city's trade unions are also counting and reviewing cases of workers and laborers affected by storm No. 3 to provide timely subsidies and support. Previously, on the evening of September 8, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation visited, encouraged, and expressed condolences to the family of the male worker who died in storm No. 3, Mr. Nguyen Van Q (born in 1979, Phuong La village, Quyet Tien commune, Tien Lang district), a worker at Thuan Ich Leather Shoe Company.
