The Center for Community Health Care Support and HIV/AIDS Prevention (HHCSC) under the Hai Phong Union of Science and Technology Associations, was established on September 8, 2006.
In 20 years of operation, the Center for Community Health Care Support and HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control has implemented 11 projects related to HIV/AIDS prevention and control and support for vulnerable groups.
One of the outstanding results is that 17,663 elderly people were supported with knowledge, nutrition and care services; more than 10,000 teenagers had access to communication and counseling activities; more than 7,000 officials, workers, employees and laborers were informed at businesses. In the period 2014-2019, the Center organized 155 community communication sessions, contributing to bringing knowledge about health and HIV/AIDS prevention and control closer to the people.
Notably, telephone counseling and support activities are maintained with about 550 visits/year, creating an additional convenient channel for people who need to learn information and support about HIV/AIDS. In the period 2023-2026 alone, 156,000 community members have accessed communication activities on rights and health within the project framework.
Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, leaders of the Department of Health acknowledged the results over the past 20 years of the Center for Community Health Care Support and HIV/AIDS Prevention in expanding the scope of activities from health care and HIV/AIDS prevention to supporting children in difficult circumstances, children affected by HIV/AIDS, elderly people, grandparents taking care of children, vulnerable youth, women and girls, drug users, migrant workers and many other community groups.
Not stopping at communication, the Center has gradually developed models of counseling, health care, service connection and community integration support. In recent years, HHCSC has continued to expand its operations to the field of reproductive health and sexual health care for female workers from other provinces in Hai Phong. With 380 communication activities, reaching about 4,500 female workers; 150 women undergoing breast cancer, cervical cancer and gynecological disease screening, along with community dialogue activities, the program has contributed to bringing health care information and services closer to a group of workers who are increasingly playing an important role in the city's development.
Leaders of the Department of Health also hope that in the coming period, the Center will continue to promote the experiences accumulated over the past 20 years; continue to innovate operating methods, improve team capacity, develop a network of collaborators and volunteers, diversify resources and expand cooperation with agencies and organizations inside and outside the city.
The Department of Health will closely coordinate with the Center, towards the common goal of improving people's health, enhancing access to services and paying better attention to vulnerable groups in the community.
