On the morning of May 22, the 2026 Dong Thap Provincial Workers' Football Tournament officially opened in two areas: Dao Thanh ward and Cao Lanh ward. This is a practical activity to celebrate the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress and respond to Workers' Month 2026.

This year's tournament attracted 30 teams with nearly 400 athletes who are union members and workers working at grassroots trade unions in Dong Thap province. The teams competed in the 5-person men's mini-football event, applying the 5-person football competition rules issued by the Vietnam Football Federation.

The tournament receives financial companionship and support from Freeview Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd. The teams compete in two phases. On May 22, qualifying rounds will take place in two areas: My Tho area with 18 teams competing at Dao Thanh ward football field; Cao Lanh area with 12 teams competing at football fields in Cao Lanh ward. The final round and closing ceremony will take place on May 23 in My Tho area.

Speaking at the opening ceremony at the My Tho area stadium, Ms. Huynh Thi Tuyet Vui - Chairwoman of the Dong Thap Provincial Labor Federation - called on athletes to compete with the sportsmanship of "Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility - Progress".

According to Ms. Vui, the tournament not only creates a playground for exchange and health training after stressful working hours for each union member, worker, and laborer, but also contributes to creating a vibrant emulation atmosphere, encouraging union members and laborers to enthusiastically work and produce, contributing to building agencies, units, and businesses to become increasingly strong and developed.

In addition to the goal of promoting the movement of physical exercise and improving the spiritual life of workers, the Organizing Committee also awarded many prizes to outstanding collectives and individuals. The champion team was awarded 5 million VND along with Cups, Flags and Medals.

Similarly, the Second Prize is 4 million VND; two Third Prizes worth 3 million VND/prize; two Consolation Prizes worth 2 million VND/prize. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded two individual prizes including Top Scorer and Excellent Goalkeeper, each prize worth 500,000 VND.
