In the food processing workshop of G.O. C Export Food Processing Joint Stock Company, Mr. Luong Xuan Huy - Deputy Director of Factory cum Head of Mechanical and Electrical Department of G.O. C Export Food Processing Joint Stock Company (Bac Ninh) always appears with a small notebook in his hand.
Every time he sees a stage that is still inadequate, loses a lot of labor or causes waste of raw materials, he records, calculates and finds ways to improve.
For Mr. Huy, the initiative did not start from the laboratory but from his daily work concerns.
In 2022, witnessing workers having to scoop each bucket of vinegar and manually weigh it to put into mixing pots, he realized that the work was both hard and time-consuming, while the loss amounted to about 3%.
After many months of research, he designed an automatic vinegar supply system connected from two tanks to 6 mixing pots of two workshops. The system uses flow sensors, pumps, electromagnetic valves and computer-connected control cabinets to accurately set the amount of vinegar supplied to each pot.
When the system comes into operation, workers no longer have to scoop or weigh vinegar manually. All data is statistically recorded on a computer, helping warehouse owners easily track the amount of raw materials left in the tank.
More importantly, the loss rate decreased sharply from 3% to only 0.1%, and at the same time, businesses saved more than 600 million VND in equipment investment costs.
The first success added motivation for Mr. Huy to continue pursuing new ideas.
By 2023, when the company expanded production of new items, the need for large-capacity vegetable and fruit slicing equipment became urgent. Instead of buying machines at high costs, he decided to research and manufacture them himself.
After many experiments, he successfully manufactured three machines to slice fresh vegetables and fruits and salt with a capacity of up to 3,000kg of raw materials per hour. Currently, two machines are operating at the factory, and one machine is put into operation at Phu Tho branch.
The three "made by G.O. C" machines not only meet production requirements but also help businesses save nearly 600 million VND compared to buying equipment with equivalent features on the market.
In 2024, another problem arose when the company had to use four machines imported from China to slice oval watermelons. Each machine only achieves a yield of about 200kg per hour and requires an operating worker.
Anh Huy started researching again.
The machine he manufactured has a yield of 800kg per hour, four times higher than the old equipment. Instead of four machines and four workers, now only one machine and one operator are needed to supply raw materials for the entire production line.
This solution helps the company save about 45 million VND in labor costs and 10 million VND in electricity bills each year, while significantly reducing labor intensity.
By 2025, he will continue to launch an automatic pickle pump from a 10,000kg tank.
Previously, to process about 6 million kg of raw materials including watermelons and chili peppers each year, the company needed 1,200 working days. After applying the new machine, the number of working days decreased to only 150.
If including labor costs, electricity and equipment depreciation, operating costs each year decreased from more than 365 million VND to about 78 million VND, helping businesses save more than 278 million VND each year.
Not only bringing economic efficiency, the machine also helps workers no longer have to perform heavy work, contributing to improving working conditions in factories.
According to Mr. Huy, this is what makes him feel happiest.
Reducing a heavy stage for workers is also a success for technicians," he shared.
The equipment manufactured by him also contributes to improving product quality. The increasingly modern production process helps international partners gain more confidence when witnessing the image of automation lines researched and manufactured by the company's own team of engineers.
The competitiveness of businesses has also improved thanks to reduced product costs and increased productivity.

Mr. Luong Xuan Huy's tireless creative efforts have been recognized by many awards. In 2020, he was awarded the Creative Labor Medal. In 2023, he was honored to receive the Nguyen Duc Canh Award - a noble award for trade union members with outstanding achievements in creative labor.
In addition, he is also a member of the author group that won the First Prize of the Bac Giang Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Contest (now Bac Ninh province) for the VIII time in 2019, the First Prize of the Bac Ninh Provincial Science and Technology Contest for the I time in 2025, along with many certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
According to Mr. Huy, to have an initiative, first of all, you must be diligent in observing daily work, listening to the opinions of direct production workers, constantly learning new knowledge and persistently experimenting. There are ideas that must be revised many times to succeed, but that process brings valuable lessons.
Just doing a little better every day than yesterday will always have the opportunity to create new things," Mr. Huy shared.
