In the workshop of Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company, Vinacomin, among the carriage repair equipment, Mr. Pham Van Trung - Head of the Mechanical and Electrical Repair Team - stood next to the steel armrest, introducing to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters how the equipment operates.
The "Inventory for removing and installing carriage bearings" initiative was created by Mr. Trung and his colleagues from the difficulties in the carriage repair process.
With the new brace, the ball bearings are firmly held, the impact force is evenly distributed, helping workers operate more conveniently and safely. After application, 2 workers can disassemble and install about 20 ball bearings per day.
According to Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company, from 2023 to now, Mr. Trung has had 3 initiatives, with a total value of profit of more than 926 million VND. Separately, the loading and unloading equipment, installing carriage shaft bearings, has profited more than 300 million VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ruc - Deputy Director, Chairman of the Company's Trade Union - said that the unit mobilizes employees to propose initiatives starting from small ideas, associated with daily work. When workers have ideas, the trade union coordinates with professional departments to contribute ideas, support completion, and submit them to the evaluation council before application; and at the same time proposes timely rewards so that each contribution is recognized.
At the coating department of Vina New Tarps One Member Limited Liability Company, Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh - Head of the Department - proposed to refine the plastic tarpaulin coating machine line to save input fuel.
According to Mr. Quynh, he noticed that the production line used 2m of finished tarpaulin, but the edges on both sides were about 8cm left over, 4cm on each side had to be cut into scrap. He proposed adjusting the equipment, minimizing the edges to be cut. After application, the scrap ratio at the Trang department decreased from 5.82% to 5.5%; the overall scrap ratio of the whole company decreased from 7.89% to 7.38%.
Adjusting the equipment helps the company save about 50 million VND in input material costs each month. This comes from the responsibility of the workers" - Mr. Quynh shared.
In the first 6 months of 2026, union members and workers in the province had 4,326 recognized initiatives put into practice.
