Talking to reporters, Ms. Pham Thi Thang - Vice Chairwoman of the Hung Yen Provincial Labor Federation - said that up to now, the Provincial Labor Federation is managing 26.3% of workers aged 50 and over who are working as workers in economic zones and industrial parks and clusters throughout the province.
Ms. Pham Thi Thang said that most workers working in paper businesses, toy production, leather shoes... often use many older workers; while garment businesses also use older workers, but less.
According to her, there are people who used to be farmers, when they reached old age they went to work as workers, businesses still recruited them to work for businesses. There are also cases where they used to work as garment workers, but then due to reduced vision, they were not able to meet the requirements of the job requiring accuracy, the Executive Committee of the grassroots Trade Union advised employers to rotate workers to other departments that are more suitable for their health conditions to have income, even income may be higher than the old job.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Thang, recruiting older workers brings benefits to businesses. The labor source is richer, business owners can choose workers to meet the production needs of the company. And most importantly, this labor force, when entering the business, is often attached for a long time.
