Planning to buy a car and repair a house thanks to overtime money
Worker Thach Thi Sa Ly, who has worked for many years at Branch 7 of Thai Binh Investment JSC (Tap Son commune, Vinh Long province), said that her monthly salary ranges from 5.5 - 6.5 million VND. According to her, if she works overtime regularly, she can receive an additional 1 million VND per month, with expenses to re-roof the corrugated iron roof and repair the house.
At Lefaso Tra Vinh Industrial Investment and Production Joint Stock Company (Tra Cu commune, Vinh Long province), Ms. Thach Kim Quyen, 52 years old, said that her current income is about 6-7 million VND per month. After deducting family living expenses, the remaining amount is about 1-2 million VND to save. She plans to buy a new motorbike at the end of the year because the motorbike she is using is more than 15 years old.
According to Ms. Quyen, the company announced an increase in orders and overtime may last until the end of June, so income may increase by 1 - 1.5 million VND per month, thanks to which the car purchase plan can be implemented sooner than expected.
Not only the two workers mentioned above, many workers also save additional money to take care of their children in 12th grade preparing for the graduation exam, vocational training or university entrance. According to them, having a stable job at the beginning of the year and working overtime is the most joyful thing.
Harmonizing production progress and workers' rights
Faced with increased order demand, businesses in the area proactively arrange production, both increasing shifts and ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
Ms. Lam Thi Ngoc Ha - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Ty Bach Co., Ltd. (Binh Minh Industrial Park, Vinh Long province) said that while waiting to recruit about 500 more workers due to orders in the first and second quarters increasing by about 10%, the company must organize overtime to keep up with the export delivery schedule. According to her, overtime is arranged appropriately, not exceeding the prescribed number of hours, and ensuring full salaries, allowances and related regimes.
According to Mr. Le Duy Khuong - General Director of Lefaso Tra Vinh Industrial Investment and Production Joint Stock Company (Tra Cu commune, Vinh Long province), in the first half of 2026, the company's orders increased by about 20%. Currently, the enterprise produces about 17,000 - 18,000 pairs of shoes per day with nearly 3,000 workers, while the order requirement is up to nearly 19,000 pairs. According to him, overtime is a necessary solution in the peak period, but the company also promotes recruitment and training of new workers to stabilize in the long term.
Orders increasing right from the beginning of the year is not only a positive signal of the market but also brings confidence to workers. Reasonably calculated overtime hours have helped harmonize production goals and workers' rights. From plans to repair roofs, buy a new car to preparing luggage for children to step into new doors, each plan starts from job stability. The recovery of businesses is therefore also the foundation for workers' lives to gradually improve.
