The delegation led by Mr. Peter Schissler - Chairman of Solidar, General Secretary of the PRO-GE Joint Industrial Union - went to Vietnam for field research.
Solidar is a policy development project of OGB, operating since 1996, aiming to enhance the capacity of Austrian trade unions to increase awareness of the world in the context of globalization, on that basis to propose strategic actions of trade unions, towards “decent work - a livable environment” for workers. Solidar also supports OGB in building networks, connecting and cooperating with national and international trade unions and non-governmental organizations around the world.
Solidar's executive board is made up of representatives from the OGB and the sectoral trade unions. A component of Solidar's advanced training is field trips and research in developing countries, in cooperation with the Austrian Trade Unions.
Solidar also organizes to welcome union officials from other countries to be guest speakers, serving the information work and raising awareness of the world for Austrian trade unions. In 2024, a representative of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) participated as a guest speaker at the invitation of OGB and Solidar, thereby exchanging with many union officials at all levels, members of friendship associations, and some mass media about the results of the activities of the Vietnam Trade Union as well as the path to Socialism in Vietnam, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
At the meeting, both sides expressed their desire to strengthen and consolidate the friendly and cooperative relations between the Vietnamese Trade Union movement and the Austrian Trade Union movement. In particular, promoting the results of cooperation in the past time, further improving the effectiveness of cooperation in the coming time; learning and researching the goals and orientations of the Austrian labor movement and Trade Unions in the coming time; providing accurate and practical information on the activities of the Vietnamese Trade Union...
