Provide the police with valuable information
In 2018, the Honda Motorcycle Union participating in crime prevention and ensuring security and order in Vinh Chau town (Soc Trang province) was established with over 100 members who are motorbike taxi drivers.
Since its inception, the members have strictly implemented the Party's guidelines and policies; the State's policies and laws, and complied with the Road Traffic Law while working as motorbike taxi drivers. In particular, the members have provided the Ward 1 Police (Vinh Chau Town, Soc Trang Province) with 33 valuable sources of information, serving to catch and eradicate 6 social evils, catch 32 subjects red-handed to handle administrative violations according to regulations, participate in protecting the scenes of 8 traffic accidents and collisions, and use Honda vehicles to promptly transport 17 injured people to the hospital.
In July 2024, the Vinh Chau Town Labor Union (Soc Trang Province) coordinated with the Party Committee and People's Committee of Ward 1 to launch a high-quality motorbike taxi team model based on the former Honda Motorbike Union. Members of the motorbike taxi team are equipped with uniforms, helmets, and business cards printed for customers. The team leader and deputy team leader are responsible for receiving passenger information, negotiating prices, and assigning members to pick up and drop off passengers to ensure safety, responsibility, and efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long - Head of the High-Quality Motorbike Taxi Team - said that in addition to transporting passengers, members also participate in crime prevention and control by observing strangers and suspicious behavior to provide information to Ward 1 Police.
After 2 months of operation, hundreds of people have contacted to move in and out of town. Members also provide important information to local authorities in crime prevention and control.
Contribute to stabilizing security and order
According to Ms. Pham Thi Huong - President of the Vinh Chau Town Labor Federation (Soc Trang Province), the town currently has over 800 union members in the informal sector, most of whom are in difficult circumstances. The establishment of this model is the first step to change the way of caring for union members and workers, giving them the conditions to develop and change their lives and those of their families.
"Union members working in trade unions are closest to the masses, so doing a good job of taking care of union members and workers will contribute to stabilizing the political situation, security, order and social safety in the locality," said Ms. Huong.
According to the leader of the Vinh Chau Town Labor Federation (Soc Trang Province), the motorbike taxi group meets regularly twice a month. The meetings are attended by local police and representatives of the town's Labor Federation. Thereby, timely suggestions are made to help the group's activities become more organized, and information is posted on platforms so that people can know and contact them.
Recently, the Social Policy Bank Transaction Office in Vinh Chau town has deployed a loan source to help 12 members purchase vehicles to serve the motorbike taxi profession in accordance with the new situation and serve the people better.
According to the Soc Trang Provincial Federation of Labor, the Long Phu and Thanh Tri District Federations of Labor have also established two motorbike taxi unions to prevent and combat crime and social evils with nearly 100 members participating.
Mr. Lam Quang Toan - Chairman of the Thanh Tri District Labor Union - said that the establishment of the Motorbike Taxi Union model to prevent and combat crimes and social evils aims to support union members in the informal sector to have conditions to develop and change their lives and those of their families. At the same time, it is necessary to improve the quality of life of the Union Executive Committee, do a good job of propaganda, dissemination of legal education, and collect union dues to have conditions to better care for union members and workers.
