A friend who understands and sympathizes with the difficulties of workers

After more than 6 years of persistently demanding rights, hundreds of workers of Haprosimex Knitting Factory, Haprosimex Group Joint Stock Company (Hanoi) were resolved for social insurance thanks to the involvement and companionship of Lao Dong Newspaper.

Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper on August 13, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen - former Foreman of Haprosimex Knitting Factory Garment Workshop - said that she still maintains the habit of reading newspapers every day. Not only searching for information related to labor policies and social insurance, she is also interested in many other issues in social life.

Every day I still read articles on Laodong.vn" - Ms. Huyen shared with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper on August 13.

According to her, what makes workers trust Lao Dong Newspaper is the information reflected from reality, going deep into the issues that workers are concerned about. From salaries, jobs, social insurance, social security to life stories, each article can become an important information channel for workers to better understand their rights.

Ms. Huyen assessed that Lao Dong Newspaper not only provides information but is also a "companion who understands and sympathizes with the joys and difficulties in the daily lives of workers".

Looking back at the journey that has passed, Ms. Huyen believes that what she and Haprosimex workers have received is not only the social insurance money being resolved. It is also the belief that when legitimate rights are affected, workers can come to Lao Dong Newspaper to be listened to and accompanied.

She hopes that Lao Dong Newspaper will continue to maintain its role as the voice of workers, promptly reflecting issues from the grassroots level, especially stories related to employment, wages, social insurance and social security.

Towards the 100-year milestone, Ms. Huyen expects Lao Dong Newspaper to continue to innovate, apply technology but still maintain its core values: Being close, listening and protecting the legitimate rights of workers. That belief is drawn from the 6-year journey she and hundreds of workers went to demand rights.

Haprosimex Group Joint Stock Company (Hanoi) owes workers' salaries from January 2017 and owes social insurance from July 2011. There are female workers who are not entitled to maternity benefits even though their children have grown up. There are families of workers who have passed away many years ago but their relatives have not yet been granted death benefits.

From 2017 to 2023, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen and employees repeatedly met with company leaders through various periods, from before to after equitization, to request settlement of rights. However, the answer they received many times was still that the business was difficult and had no money.

From March 2, 2023, Lao Dong Newspaper continuously published information about Haprosimex Company's salary and social insurance debts. After a series of articles by Lao Dong Newspaper, the matter received the attention of functional agencies and public opinion. On June 28, Haprosimex Group Joint Stock Company paid off all social insurance debts of employees, with a total amount of more than 15 billion VND. The Hanoi City Social Insurance Agency then separated and closed books for nearly 500 employees. Nearly 100 female workers were granted maternity benefits. In particular, two families with deceased employees received death benefits after more than 10 years of waiting.
