At the recent graduation ceremony of Van Lang University, Nguyen Minh Nhat officially became the new Bachelor of Graphic Design (Clase 28). Representing thousands of students speaking at the ceremony, Minh Nhat attracted attention when starting with a passage from the song "If one day I fly to the sky".
The new bachelor's speech reviews the journey from a boy who broke his voice and had to stop at a music competition, to the years of persistently overcoming the adversity of illness of himself and his family to complete his university journey.
The clip recording this moment was then widely shared on social networking platforms, receiving much sympathy and applause from the community.
Nguyen Minh Nhat (born in 2004, from Binh Dinh) is a familiar face to television audiences. In 2017, he participated in The Voice Kids for the first time but stopped early due to a voice break. Undeterred, in 2018, Minh Nhat returned to season 6 of the competition and successfully conquered the coaches.
At the Blind Auditions in 2018, Minh Nhat performed the song "Dem mua nho me" (Rainy Night Remembering Mother). The emotional voice and emotional handling of the 14-year-old boy at that time conquered the judges and made coach Soobin Hoang Son burst into tears in the hot seat.
Rejoining the team of coach Vu Cat Tuong - Soobin Hoang Son, Minh Nhat competed with many young singers such as Ha Quynh Nhu (Champion of that year), Dao Dinh Anh Quan, Nguyen Tran Phuong Truc... and excellently stopped in the Top 10 overall.
During the competition, Minh Nhat's family circumstances received much sharing from the public. His mother suffered from severe chronic kidney failure, and the cost of blood filtration and treatment was expensive.
Minh Nhat's father was originally a teacher but had to quit teaching to switch to driving a technology car to earn a living, covering medicine for his wife and raising his children to study. Minh Nhat's main motivation to sing at that time was to earn money to help his family and treat his mother's illness.
In the post-Covid-19 epidemic period, during a health check, Minh Nhat discovered that he also had a similar disease to his mother. Despite facing financial pressure and health upheavals in adulthood, he still persistently treated himself, both working part-time and striving to complete his university program.
Amidst the successive upheavals of life, steadfast reason and the spirit of not collapsing have become the biggest support to help Minh Nhat overcome adversity and reach his bachelor's degree.
