On the Phu Tho Provincial Social Insurance Portal, reader N.V.C reflected: "I am a person receiving monthly allowances due to work accidents. From July 2025, I will be issued a health insurance card by the social insurance agency. So can my health insurance card be automatically renewed or do I have to do any additional procedures?
Answering this content, Phu Tho Social Insurance said that Clause 2, Article 12 of the Health Insurance Law stipulates health insurance participants. (In comparison with the provisions of law, groups covered by health insurance agencies include:
a) People who are receiving monthly pensions and unemployment benefits;
b) Employees who retire to receive monthly occupational accident and disease allowances; employees who retire to receive sickness allowances for employees suffering from diseases on the list of diseases requiring long-term treatment or employees who retire to enjoy sickness benefits for 14 working days or more in a month according to the provisions of the law on social insurance; employees who retire to enjoy maternity benefits for 14 working days or more in a month according to the provisions of the law on social insurance;
c) Commune, ward, and town officials who have quit their jobs and are receiving monthly social insurance benefits;
d) People who are receiving unemployment benefits).
Based on the provisions of Clause 3, Article 8 and Clause 1, Article 17 of the Health Insurance Law No. 51/2024/QH15, in case a person is receiving a monthly work accident allowance, they will be issued a health insurance card by the social insurance agency according to the time of receiving the allowance.
Therefore, if readers are still continuing to receive monthly work accident benefits, the health insurance card will be automatically renewed by the social insurance agency corresponding to the benefit period.
Benefit recipients do not need to carry out additional procedures to renew their health insurance cards.
