Mr. Nguyen Duc Quang (21 years old, Nam Dinh), used to work as a worker at a garment factory near his home. After 2 years of accumulating enough knowledge and economy, he decided to quit his job and become a Youtuber .
The reason Mr. Quang decided to work freelance was to satisfy his passion and not be dependent on factory regulations.
“As a freelancer, I can arrange my time reasonably at any time of the day, not necessarily during daytime or office hours. Becoming a YouTuber has also been my passion and dream since I first came into contact with computers and the internet,” said Quang.
In more detail, Mr. Quang said that he can sleep until 9am before waking up to work. Whenever he is tired, he is ready to let his body rest. In addition, when he has work to do, Mr. Quang can easily arrange it because the work can be done in the evening or on holidays.
Besides, according to Mr. Quang, if you work as a worker, it will be very difficult to break through because the opportunity is extremely difficult when having to compete with hundreds of people. In addition, time is also completely dependent on the company, often having to work overtime and come home late, making life boring and dependent.
Quitting his office job to become a photographer, Nguyen Dinh Doanh (33 years old, Nam Dinh) said he can live with his passion and has a much better income.
Previously, Mr. Doanh was a recruiter, earning an average of 7 - 8.5 million VND/month. His side job was photography, but he only dared to accept jobs on holidays and weekends because he had to work during the week.
“When I was working for a company, I only dared to take one-day photography jobs on Sundays or holidays. Many events required at least two days, so I had to ask my colleagues to help me for one day, so my income was also affected,” Doanh confided.
Sharing about his current income, Mr. Doanh said that it ranges from 12 to 20 million VND/month depending on the amount of work received. If calculated by the total number of working days to reach this income level, Mr. Doanh only needs to work from 15 to 20 days.
Analyzing the reason for the recent difficulty in recruiting people, Ms. Le Thi Huong (28 years old) - head of the shipping department in Hoang Mai District, Hanoi said that many young people only like a comfortable environment in terms of time and work.
“During the interview, they often asked sensitive questions like: Does the company have overtime, do you have Saturdays off, or do you give me time off when I have work to do, which made me feel very embarrassed to answer,” said Ms. Huong.
Because if the answer is yes, it will make the candidate disappointed and difficult to recruit because the workforce is mainly young Gen Z people. If the answer is no, then it is a lie. Ms. Huong said that sometimes the company also has to work overtime, does not take Saturdays off, only creates conditions for a maximum of 1-2 times/month to go out to do personal work.
According to the female department head, when they cannot work as they like and feel pressured by their current job, many young people are willing to quit their jobs. And the initial choice of many people is to work freelance to relax. When they cannot continue, they return to stable work at the company.
