On March 11, Mr. Nguyen Huy Sam - Director of HT House Construction Consulting Co., Ltd. in Ha Tinh said that his company is currently facing difficulties when many construction workers quit their jobs to apply for jobs at a factory in Vung Ang Economic Zone.
Because this factory is paying a high salary, up to nearly 20 million VND/person/month.
According to Mr. Sam, currently his company is constructing two houses, normally maintaining about 5-6 workers in each house. However, currently due to a shortage of workers, only 3 workers can be maintained in each house.
“Currently it is construction season, so the demand for housing construction from people is very large, many families have called to rent, but I dare not accept because there are no workers. There is a house that has signed a construction contract, starting construction in February of the lunar calendar but has not yet found a worker, I am very worried,” Mr. Sam shared.
According to Mr. Sam, in the face of the situation that many construction workers leave to apply for jobs at Vung Ang Economic Zone for higher incomes, to retain construction workers, he had to increase the wages for workers to 600,000 VND/day.
The Director of HT House Construction Consulting Co., Ltd. in Ha Tinh also shared that, for projects that have been received but have not been constructed, in the context of high labor costs, he will have to request the homeowner to adjust the price upwards, otherwise he will have to cancel the contract. Because if the construction price is not increased, the profit is insignificant, even losses will occur.
In 2025, we received construction costs of 1.1 million VND/m2, but now it has increased to 1.6 million VND/m2, some places even rent up to 2 million VND/m2 but still dare not accept because they have not hired construction workers to construct," Mr. Sam shared.
Mr. Sam frankly acknowledged that the fact that businesses recruit a large number of workers with high salaries has helped workers benefit, and their lives are gradually improved. This is also an inevitable law of labor competition for employers to better ensure income for workers.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Trung (42 years old, residing in Cam Due commune, Ha Tinh province), the contractor for the construction of the residential house paint part, said that his team of workers is still staying to work with him. However, to retain them, he had to increase his wages from 500,000 VND/person/day to 650,000 VND/person/day.
It must increase like that, otherwise many people will leave to recruit to work for businesses in Vung Ang, because they pay very high salaries in them," Mr. Trung shared.
According to Mr. Trung, currently many housing construction contractors and house painting contractors in Ha Tinh have increased wages for workers from 600,000 VND to 700,000 VND/person/day. This remuneration level helps many workers have a fairly good income if they work diligently and achieve many working days.
