Summer vacation is an opportunity for many students to return to their hometowns with their families or choose to go out, travel... However, many people choose their own path: they refuse outings to "rush" into the labor market. For those young people, summer is not for rest, but a "golden time" to accumulate practical knowledge and earn extra income.
Mai Ngoc Thao Nhi is currently a student majoring in Journalism - College of Television (Thuong Tin commune, Hanoi). This summer, instead of returning to her hometown to rest with her family, Thao Nhi chose to try her hand at the content creation position - taking on filming and communication for a coffee brand.
Thao Nhi confided that the biggest pressure for students going to work in the summer is the deadline for completing work as required by customers.
There are tasks that require completion in a very short time that make me feel extremely stressed. Initially, I was confused about how to arrange work and build scripts, and complete products to get the best results...", Thao Nhi said.
After learning experience from seniors a few times, drawing experience from practical work, Thao Nhi is now used to the pace of work and has many good products. With a salary of 2.5-3 million VND/month, Thao Nhi feels satisfied because she has both the opportunity to practice, improve her skills, and have income to cover some living expenses.
Nguyen Linh Chi, a student majoring in Finance and Banking (University of Labor and Social Affairs) did not choose a light office job but decided to work as a sales staff for a smart household appliance brand.
This job both helps me accumulate communication and improvisation experience when serving customers, and has income to help support tuition fees for my parents," Chi said.
According to Linh Chi, household appliances are essential items and there is extremely fierce competition between brands. The biggest pressure for Chi is to thoroughly understand the outstanding competitive advantages of the brand she is selling to advise customers; the second pressure is the daily sales target for each individual.
In the early days, I was very confused when calling to introduce products and continuously received refusals or sudden hang-up calls. I proactively asked my seniors to guide me on how to listen, change the way of talking... to provide correct and accurate advice on devices and items suitable for gender and age... Persistence has brought me invaluable "sweet fruit": maturity in communication, a steadfast spirit and better emotional control in unexpected situations," Chi recounted.
Currently, Linh Chi's income is about 3.5-4 million VND/month. Chi is also very satisfied with the soft skills she has accumulated during her work process.
Eager to learn and accumulate professional experience, in the summer days, Ho Mai Hai Anh, a student of Medical Laboratory Technology - Hop Luc College of Medicine and Pharmacy (Thanh Hoa) spends all her free study time at the hospital.
“I chose to go to work early to accumulate experience, help myself feel confident, and avoid being unfamiliar with rigorous clinical internships later,” Hai Anh said.
Hai Anh shared that the biggest pressure for her was when she first came into contact, many patients were quite worried when they knew that the person performing the technique was a student. Therefore, she had to try twice as hard to prove her carefulness and professionalism.
“The thing I worry about most is not the workload, but if a small mistake due to subjectivity can affect the patient's safety or put myself at risk of exposure to the disease. Before each shift, I always strictly follow safety and protection procedures," Hai Anh said.
The rigorous training process and dedicated guidance from doctors and senior colleagues help Hai Anh cultivate more situation handling skills and working style. "For me, these are more valuable experiences than gold, which would never be obtained without actual impact," Hai Anh proudly shared.
