Instead of waiting until the day of receiving the degree to take photos, many students today choose to take pre-graduation photos (photos taken before the official graduation ceremony) from a few weeks to a few months. Although they have to spend an additional amount of money on photography, makeup or costumes, many young people still consider this a worthy investment to preserve an important milestone after many years of studying.
In mid-July, the campuses of many universities in Hanoi become bustling with images of students wearing bachelor's degrees, holding flowers, posing with photographers. Many students actively complete pre-graduation photos early to have more time to prepare, and at the same time save beautiful moments before officially closing their student life.
Nguyen Thi Mai Khanh, a 4th-year student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), said that she decided to take pre-graduation photos before the graduation ceremony to be more proactive in terms of time and psychology.

According to Mai Khanh, if you wait until the day of receiving the certificate to take photos, it will be quite rushed because students also have to attend the ceremony, meet family and friends. Taking photos early helps you have more time to prepare for costumes, makeup and choose suitable locations. For Mai Khanh, the photo set is not only photos preserving youth but also a way to recognize achievements after many years of studying hard. Therefore, even if you have to spend an extra amount of money, the female student still thinks this is a completely worthy choice.
Meanwhile, Tran Hai Ly, a 4th-year student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) chose to take pre-graduation photos with the desire to reduce the pressure on graduation day. According to Hai Ly, if taking photos on the day of receiving the degree, students will hardly have much time because they are busy attending ceremonies, meeting relatives and friends. Besides, the school grounds are often very crowded, so finding a beautiful shooting angle is not easy.

According to Hai Ly, taking photos before the ceremony gives you more time to choose the setting, prepare costumes and not have to jostle in crowds on the day of receiving the certificate. To complete the photo set, Hai Ly said that she spent about 1.4 million VND on photo and makeup services, not including the cost of renting costumes, bachelor's degree shirts and some accessories. Despite incurring additional expenses, the female student said that in return she already had photos to share on social networks, make invitation cards and keep as souvenirs.
I think this expense is reasonable because on graduation day, you just need to fully enjoy the moment with family and friends, no longer having to run to take photos," Hai Ly said.
As a student preparing to graduate, Hoang Mai Anh (Foreign State Academy) also decided to invest in a pre-graduation photo set before the graduation ceremony.
Mai Anh said that she spent nearly 2 million VND for the photo set, including hiring photographers, makeup, printing graduation sash and some costume rental costs. According to the female student, this is an expense prepared in advance and completely worthy of the experiences she received.
What I get back is not only beautiful photos but also a meaningful time with my family. I can invite my parents and relatives to school in advance to take photos together, choose many locations and not have to rush like on the graduation day," Mai Anh shared.
No longer simply a trend on social networks, pre-graduate photography is gradually becoming a choice of many students before the threshold of graduation. Besides preserving beautiful moments of youth, many people see this as a way to mark achievements after many years of studying, and at the same time help themselves fully enjoy the day of receiving their degrees with family and friends without the pressure of taking photos.
