On September 9, in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held a training conference on "Raising awareness of environmental protection and occupational safety and hygiene for union officials and occupational safety and hygiene workers at enterprises".
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Ho Thi Kim Ngan - Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) - said that the Trade Union organization with nearly 12 million members will play an active role in promoting and raising awareness of the environment, climate change, and occupational safety and hygiene for Trade Union officials and workers.
From there, contributing to raising awareness of union members and workers about environmental protection.
According to Ms. Ho Thi Kim Ngan, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized this conference with the aim of conveying messages about environmental protection and raising awareness among union officials.
In addition, the conference is also an opportunity for everyone to exchange and discuss the basic contents of the 2020 Environmental Protection Law. Thereby, contributing to building a culture of safety and a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature.
On behalf of union members and workers in Gia Lai province, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Vice President of the Labor Federation said that Gia Lai province currently has 55,724 union members, operating in 1,685 grassroots unions. Of which, the production and business sector has more than 13,000 union members.
Regarding occupational safety and hygiene, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor always pays attention and directs all levels of Trade Unions to strictly implement and has achieved many positive results.
The training course will help union officials and workers in occupational safety and health at local businesses to study and gain deeper insight into this field.
From there, it is possible to determine the responsibilities and powers of the grassroots Trade Union and the activities of the network of safety and hygiene workers in environmental protection and occupational safety and hygiene.
The training conference "Raising awareness of environmental protection and occupational safety and hygiene for trade union officials and occupational safety and hygiene workers at enterprises" will take place over 2 days, September 9 and 10.
At this conference, Dr. Phan Quang Thang - Head of the Institute of Environmental Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology will provide the conference with very basic information about the Law on Environmental Protection, effective from 2022; issues directly related to businesses, employees and trade union officials...
