From Glory of Vietnam to steadfastly follow the chosen path

This is the sharing of Prof. Dr. Ta Van Tram, Director of Tien Giang General Hospital - when honored at the 2026 Vietnam Glory program.

Labor Hero, People's Physician, Prof. Dr. Ta Van Tram, Director of Tien Giang General Hospital shared: I am very proud and touched to be honored at the Vinh Quang Vietnam program. From the bottom of my heart, I understand that my achievements are also the common effort of the whole collective where I am attached because in every environment I have the conditions to operate and contribute.

Throughout 37 years of attachment to the medical industry, overcoming many difficulties and challenges, I have always tried to develop my abilities. The glory of Vietnam is a recognition, a milestone for me to have motivation to strive in the coming time.

Professor, this is not the first time you have received a noble award. But any recognition for each individual and collective is also very commendable. Specifically for Vinh quang Việt Nam, from this foundation and stepping stone, what motivation will the professor have in scientific research, dedication to patients and in his upcoming teaching career?

Being honored at the Vinh quang Vietnam program, for me, is a surprise and a great honor.

Receiving this noble award, I think I need to continue the path I have taken steadily. I will strive to do better in all areas of operation of the hospital, especially medical examination and treatment for people, towards patients to serve.

The second is to continue to participate in teaching students, guiding graduate students, research students, and training generations to meet the needs of the new era, the digital transformation and innovation stage.

Society's requirements for the medical industry will become increasingly high, it is necessary to change teaching methods, put them into simulation practice, and guide them hand in hand... to have doctors who are good at their profession and have good medical ethics to wholeheartedly serve this noble industry.

As the professor just mentioned, the new era, digital transformation, innovation, AI... have had a very deep impact on life. For people who both work in management and teaching expertise like professors, especially in the health sector, what is the biggest difficulty and how will the professor overcome it to achieve better results?

Some people say that AI may replace doctors. I think in all professions, AI will support our development but cannot completely replace it, especially in the healthcare industry.

The health sector is an industry that really needs humanity, human factors; needs emotions, attitudes - things that only humans have. Artificial intelligence is a coordinating factor for us to move faster (such as relying on big data to come up with more accurate protocols, moving towards precision medicine, individual medicine for each patient...) but cannot replace humans. We aim to train artificial intelligence applications to build a generation of doctors who are both red and specialized.

Thank you, Professor.
