Propaganda to help Gia Lai workers identify fraudulent tricks

THANH TUẤN |

Gia Lai - Workers and laborers in remote and isolated areas are focused on propaganda to identify scams of "light work, high salary".

Spreading information, raising awareness for workers

Leaders of Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation said that the crime situation in cyberspace is still complicated. Over the past time, trade union levels have focused on propaganda, organizing conferences, training, and exchanges with workers at enterprises to identify methods and tricks of fraud, preventing the risk of "falling into the trap" of black credit, drugs, and even human trafficking across borders.

According to statistics from the Provincial Police, from 2022 to now, there have been 4 cases of human trafficking in Gia Lai, including 3 cases of human trafficking abroad (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar).

The victims are all young, of working age, and all share the desire to stabilize income to improve their lives. In particular, fraudsters want to target workers in mountainous and rural areas, ethnic minorities, where people's access to information and awareness are still limited.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Xuan - Chairwoman of Pleiku Ward Trade Union, Gia Lai - said: "The Trade Union coordinates with the Ward Police, propagandists, unions, and the Fatherland Front to organize training sessions and conferences to share knowledge about security and safety in cyberspace.

The conferences have a large number of workers at the Industrial Park and grassroots Trade Union officials attending and listening, thereby having more information to identify the harms of online fraud, human trafficking, drug use...".

Exchange, share, and listen with workers

Grassroots trade unions, in addition to protecting and caring for the rights of workers, need to proactively propagate through social networks, Zalo groups... for workers to grasp and identify bad and toxic information, downsides, and risks of "light work, high salary" invitations abroad.

Trade unions focus on businesses with a large number of workers who are ethnic minorities working. This is a group of subjects easily affected by bad and toxic information, easily deceived and lured by subjects to illegally cross the border or have illegal acts...

In An Phu ward, the Trade Union also regularly organizes conferences, exchanges, and conversations with hundreds of workers. Along with propaganda about salary policies, social insurance, and working regimes, grassroots trade unions spread information and warn workers about tricks to deceive customers, recruit workers over the phone, promise lucky draws, illegal labor...

Ms. Mai Thi Lan, a worker at Tra Da Industrial Park, shared: "I realize that to have a stable and long-term job, I must learn about recruitment businesses through the commune government and the Trade Union organization. We should not rush to believe in recruitment news through the phone, through the promise of "light work, high salary" from those who introduce us.

In October 2025, Bong Son Ward Police (Gia Lai) worked with Mr. Dao N. (born 2000) and Nguyen T. (born 2005), both residing in Bong Son ward. These two young men had just returned to their locality after being tricked into going to Cambodia because they fell into the trap of "light work, high salary".

In 2022, 7 victims of working age in Ia O border commune (Gia Lai) fell into the trap of fraud by Tran Quang Quyet (born 2001, residing in former Kon Tum province). Through the social network Facebook "Bin Tran", Quyet lured victims to illegally cross the border into Cambodia with the promise of light work and high salaries. However, when they arrived in Cambodia, the subjects here asked them to sign labor contracts with a clause of a large fine if they could not meet the requirements.

Victims are frequently beaten with sticks and electric wires; threatened to be sold or taken to sea to be murdered. Thanks to the involvement of functional agencies, the victims have been supported to be safely brought back to Vietnam.
