According to reports, at 1:23 am on September 17, 2026, the Command Information Center of the Fire and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police received an emergency fire report at house number 101/11 Pham Huu Chi street, Cho Lon ward. Immediately, the Firefighting and Rescue Team of Area 5 and Area 10 deployed 7 fire trucks of all kinds and 44 officers and soldiers urgently arrived at the scene. At the same time, Cho Lon Ward Police quickly arranged 20 officers and soldiers and 15 grassroots security members to coordinate with Fire Prevention and Fighting Team of Area 5 and Inter-family Fire Prevention and Fighting Team to focus on fighting and rescuing the house with 7 residents.
The house where the incident occurred has a scale of 4 floors including one ground floor, one mezzanine, two floors and a terrace with a total area of about 200m2. This is a type of tube house used for living combined with the ground floor for motorbikes running on gasoline and electric motorbikes, with 2 escape routes including the main door exit and the path from the terrace to the adjacent house.
At the time functional forces arrived, fierce fire and toxic smoke had engulfed the 1st and 2nd floors. Due to the fire occurring in the middle of the night when the victims were sleeping soundly, late detection and slow fire alarm, dense toxic smoke rose, reducing visibility, causing difficulties for rescue work.
However, the ward police and people promptly rescued Ms. N.T. T. T. (born in 1988, with burns all over her body, having to breathe oxygen) and child N.P. T. (born in 2011, having to be on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit with a bad prognosis) and took them to Cho Ray Hospital for emergency treatment.
The Fire Prevention and Fighting Force of Area 5 also directly rescued 2 people and coordinated with Emergency 115 to transfer Mr. N.Q. V. T. (born in 1983, on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit, with a bad prognosis) and baby N.Q. T. (born in 2012, with burns all over his body, requiring oxygen) to Cho Ray Hospital.
At the same time, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Joint Team supported bringing Ms. N.T. T. (born in 1960) to Trung Vuong Hospital, currently the victim's health is awake and stable.
The fire caused Ms. N.T. G. (born in 1931, ill and unable to walk) to die while sleeping on the first floor and Ms. L.N. D. T. (born in 1993) to die while sleeping in the mezzanine.
By synchronous professional measures, functional forces controlled the fire at 2:06 am and completely extinguished it at 2:36 am on the same day.
Chairman of Cho Lon Ward People's Committee said that local authorities are urgently deploying work to visit and support victims as well as affected families to soon stabilize the situation.
From the above fire, the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police recommends that people living in individual houses should proactively equip themselves with automatic fire warning devices, portable fire extinguishers, toxic filter masks and anticipate a second or third escape route through balconies or adjacent roofs.
Each household needs to regularly check the electrical system, keep the stairwell corridor ventilated, and specify the location for keys and demolition tools. When an incident is detected, people must shout, calmly cut off the power and immediately call the Fire and Rescue Police at 114 or the Fire Alert 114, Help114 application.
