Remembering the first time, late in the afternoon, Mr. Do Van Khanh - then a union official of the Quang Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor - called to tell him to go to a boarding house of workers and laborers in the old Uong Bi City to advise and propagate about legal policies.
When asked "why go there at night", this officer replied: " Only workers and laborers stay home at night, they go to work during the day."
So the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper and the officer set out to arrest the bus because there were no private cars, and at that time there were no buses running at night.
Because each person is in a different area, wherever the vehicle goes, they should text the license plate so that the next person can pick up the correct vehicle. Taking the car, some union officials there drove a motorbike into the workers' and laborers' boarding house.
They gathered and opened the widest room to wait for union officials to come down to advise and disseminate policies and laws on unions, labor, etc.
The consultation and propaganda session became a very interesting and exciting Q&A session. Workers ask a lot of questions related to their work and life, from sick leave, maternity leave, to labor contracts, lawsuit procedures, salary increase deadlines, insurance payment - withdrawal...
Expert Do Van Khanh answered all questions from workers, then continued to advise and promote additional contents in the plan.
arms continue to rise, please clarify the issues that experts say.
We listened to and also learned a lot about policies, laws, and the lives of workers and laborers through the stories they shared right in the exchange at the boarding house.
At the end of the propaganda session, we went out onto the street to wait for a bus. In the middle of the night, the vehicles gradually decreased, so they had to wait quite a while. On the bus, stories about improving knowledge, especially about union and labor policies and laws continue to be discussed.
After that trip, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters also participated in many such trips with union officials, in different countries.
workers' boarding house in Quang Ninh province.
According to union officials, providing knowledge for workers and laborers is to help them understand the mechanisms and policies to protect their legitimate rights and not violate the law.
But it is equally important to have knowledge and understanding to have a reasonable and harmonious way of behaving, even when there are labor disputes and lawsuits, to harmonize the interests of the parties and build a better working environment. Because only when businesses are stable will workers have stable jobs.
Later, to equip workers and laborers with knowledge, the Quang Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor will have many other forms of consultation and propaganda, including opening trade union legal policy consulting centers in some large industrial parks, economic zones...; or opening training classes for grassroots trade union officials, thereby supporting workers and laborers.
However, we are still impressed by the consultations and propaganda sessions about policies and laws at boarding houses, where there are always discussations and dialogues that are exciting until late at night but do not seem to want to end.
