The joy of settling down in difficult circumstances
The Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor (VFF) has just handed over 6 Trade Union Shelters to union members in difficult circumstances, contributing to sharing the burden and adding motivation to overcome adversity.
Among them, the situation of Ms. Le Thi Tay - a worker at My Phong Leather Shoes Company Limited - moved many people. Her husband passed away early, she raised 3 adult children alone. Now their children are all married but still have difficulties and cannot help.
Ms. Le Thi Tay said that for many years, she and her children have lived in an old, seriously degraded house. Difficult economic conditions made it impossible for her to repair or rebuild.
"I was very touched when the Union supported my new, spacious house. This is a great motivation to work with peace of mind and take better care of my family," Ms. Tay added.

Also in difficult circumstances, Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Thuong - a teacher at Cau Ke Town Secondary School - has not had the conditions to build her own house for many years and has had to live with her biological parents. Life became more difficult when her husband had no stable job.
Ms. Thuong said that when they have a new house from the Trade Union Shelter Fund, their family life will be less worried. This is a residential pillar to devote themselves to teaching.
"My family will appreciate and maintain the newly supported house, and will strive more in work so as not to disappoint the attention of the Trade Union," said Ms. Thuong.
25 houses handed over, spreading humanitarian activities
Speaking with Lao Dong, Ms. Vo Thi Thu Oanh - Vice President of the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor - said that since the beginning of the year, the whole province has handed over 25 Trade Union Shelters out of a total of 59 approved support houses.
According to Ms. Oanh, each house is supported by the Provincial Trade Union with 50 million VND from the fund, the rest is contributed by family, relatives and local authorities, helping workers have a more solid and spacious place to live than before.

Giving houses not only supports union members in solving housing difficulties but is also a profound humane activity, contributing to encouraging them mentally and helping them become more confident in life.
Each shelter that was handed over lit up new confidence and motivation for union members. This is also a way for the Trade Union to clearly demonstrate its role as a companion, creating close solidarity between the organization and workers.
"In the coming time, the Provincial Trade Union will continue to develop specific plans to better care for union members' lives, especially housing, through charity funds and social mobilization sources," Ms. Oanh added.
