AI learning directly on devices
The trend of integrating artificial intelligence is increasingly at the center of smartphone manufacturers, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is a new step forward. This chip allows AI to operate right on the device, capable of continuous learning, and processing online multimedia models without relying on the cloud. Thanks to that, the phone can better understand users' habits and preferences and automate many daily tasks.
According to Qualcomm, the improvement comes from the new-generation Neur processor (NPU), which is 37% faster but consumes less electricity than 16%. This makes AI-powered features smoother, more stable, and more efficient on upcoming Android devices.
quay videos that meet professional standards
If taking photos on Android is getting closer to the iPhone, recording videos has been a weakness for a long time. With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, this gap is shortened thanks to the support of Advanced Professional Video Codec (APV), which will appear with Android 16.
The new technology allows video recording at high bit rates, professional quality, and each frame can be extracted into a large-solution static image.
Qualcomm hopes this upgrade will help Android get closer to iPhone video standards, while expanding its appeal to the content creation community.
Outstanding performance, playing console-standard games
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 brings a leap in performance with the third-generation Oryon core, reaching a maximum speed of 4.6 GHz. According to Qualcomm, the new processor is 20% more powerful than the previous generation, while the processor increased performance by 23% but saved more than 20% of the power.
In the entertainment sector, this chip supports Unreal Engine 5 and is integrated with a dedicated Adreno High Performance memory memory memory (HPM), helping to maintain a smooth, stable gaming experience and extend operation time. Qualcomm is also collaborating with major developers such as miHoYo, NetEase and Tencent to optimize the game, bringing the mobile gaming experience closer to console standards.
More durable battery thanks to 3nm process
Battery life is always a key factor for high-end smartphones. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, manufactured on a 3nm process, helps save up to 35% of energy compared to the previous generation.
Thanks to that, new Android devices equipped with chips can handle heavy tasks but still maintain stable performance, while significantly extending the battery life in one charge.
Connecting super-fast, expanding experience
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is powered by Qualcomm X85 modem, allowing download speeds of 12.5 Gbps and up to 3.7 Gbps, up nearly 25% from the previous generation. In addition, the new processor also supports the FastConnect 7900 platform, providing Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and UWB connectivity for compatible devices.
According to Qualcomm, these technologies not only improve connection speed and stability but also optimize energy consumption, contributing to long battery life.
