Apple has just updated its list of "old" and "obsolete" products, including the iconic Apple Watch Series 4.
As of now, all versions of the Apple Watch Series 4, including both the 40mm and 44mm aluminum and stainless steel cases, are listed as “legacy” globally.
First launched in September 2018, Apple Watch Series 4 is highly appreciated for its breakthrough design with a larger screen, thinner bezels and softly rounded corners.
According to Apple's policy, a product is considered "old" when it has been out of production for more than 5 years. If it has been out of production for more than 7 years, it will be classified as "obsolete".
“Old” products may still be repairable if replacement parts are available, while “obsolete” products will not be eligible for repair.
The Apple Watch Series 4 didn't get a new software update this year, with the last major version being watchOS 10.
Previously, products such as the iPhone X, the first-generation AirPods, and the first-generation HomePod were also added to the “old” list in July last year. Currently, the iPhone 6s and older products are officially on the “obsolete” list, meaning there are no longer any parts available for repair.
Apple regularly updates this list to help users easily identify which products are still supported for repair. If you are still using an Apple Watch Series 4, this may be a good time to consider upgrading to a newer product line.
