Check the power source and connection cable
Black screens may be due to loose power lines or signal cables.
How to do it: Check the screen power cord → Check HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA cable → Plug it back in firmly or try switching to another connection port → Turn on the screen again.
Restart the computer
Some display errors only occur temporarily.
How to do it: Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to turn off the computer → Wait a few seconds → Turn the computer back on.
Check screen brightness
For laptops, brightness can be reduced to the lowest level.
How to do it: Press Fn + brighten button (depending on the machine line) → Check if the screen is displaying again.
Try connecting to the external screen
If using a laptop, try connecting to the external screen to determine if the error is in the screen or the hardware.
How to do it: Connect the external screen via HDMI or DisplayPort → Press Windows + P → Select the appropriate display mode.
Restart the graphics driver
Windows allows restarting graphics drivers with shortcuts.
How to do it: Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B → If you hear a beep or the screen blinks, the driver has restarted.
Remove and reinstall RAM
Loose RAM or dust can prevent the screen from displaying.
How to do it: Turn off the machine → Disconnect the power source → Remove the RAM bar → Clean the contact foot → Reinstall the correct slot → Boot the machine.
graphics card check
Loose or faulty graphics cards are common causes on desktop computers.
How to do it: Turn off the computer → Remove and reassemble the graphics card → Check the card's power supply → Restart the computer.
Boot to Safe Mode
If a black screen appears after Windows updates or software installation, Safe Mode can help determine the cause.
How to do it: Press and hold Shift and select Restart → Select Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Select Safe Mode.
Update or remove graphics driver
Incompatible graphics drivers can cause black screens.
How to do it: Open Device Manager → Select Display adapters → Update or remove newly installed drivers → Restart the device.
