Electric vehicle startup Canoo has delivered the first shipment to NASA, according to Engadget.
This week, the company's crew transport vehicles (CTV) arrived at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida (USA).
Although they look like they were created to explore the surface of the Moon, these trucks are designed to carry astronauts to the rocket launcher, starting with NASA's upcoming Artemis 2 mission.
The trucks could carry fully dressed astronauts, as well as flight crew and any equipment they could need, Canoo said.
The vehicles with exclusive interior and exterior designs will provide comfort and safety for the crew on their journey to the launch site at the Kennedy Space Center, the company said; adding that it will share photos of the interior of the vehicles later.
The Artemis 2 mission will see NASA send the first crew to the Moon since the end of the Apollo program in 1972, the first such mission. The four astronauts will travel around the Earth's natural satellite during a 10-day flight.
As part of the Artemis 2 mission, NASA plans to conduct additional tests on the Orion space cell and the Space Launching System (SLS) rocket to ensure both spacecraft are safe for future manned missions.
