On the morning of September 20, at the area where the Phong Chau bridge collapsed - with many vehicles mobilized such as excavators, bulldozers, and cars - Phu Tho province's functional forces mobilized specialized cranes to the location to salvage the collapsed Phong Chau bridge and vehicles under the river.
Here, authorities used concrete breakers and other means to cut each span of the steel truss, preparing to salvage the sunken truck.
During the implementation process, Phu Tho Provincial Police strengthened security and order assurance work, not allowing unauthorized people to enter dangerous areas.
Meanwhile, in the area where the temporary pontoon bridge will be installed to replace Phong Chau bridge (about 400m downstream), the military agency is urgently reinforcing the two ends of the river (one side belongs to Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district, the other side belongs to Phung Nguyen commune, Lam Thao district).
Yesterday, September 19, the army launched several pontoon bridge spans to test and survey the water level. In the coming days, the installation of the pontoon bridge will be carried out as soon as technical and safety factors are ensured.
Along dozens of bridges downstream of the Red River, the police force continues to mobilize vehicles to search for and rescue the remaining missing victims. So far, two victims have been rescued, a husband and wife residing in Thach Dong commune, Thanh Thuy district (Phu Tho province), who were traveling on the same motorbike and went missing in the Phong Chau bridge collapse on September 9.
The search for missing victims is still continuing, with the utmost urgency and determination, to soon ease some of the pain for the families of the victims of the bridge collapse.
