Recently, the Danang Software Association (DSA) and other units co-organized: "Da Nang Innovation Forum: New technology and smart city: Future vision".
At the forum, experts shared their perspectives on the topic: "New technology creates smart cities".
Mr. Nguyen Bao Anh - representative of the semiconductor community in the Central Region, former Senior Technical Director at Synopsys - emphasized the role of data in building smart cities .
“The quality and quantity of data will determine how smart a city is. The most difficult problem is still collecting the best quantity and quality of data,” he said.
According to Ms. Lynn Hoang - Binance Country Director, Blockchain can play an important role in improving the efficiency, security and transparency of smart cities, promoting trust between citizens and governments, and enabling more effective and innovative urban management.
Accordingly, Blockchain can be used to manage property and land records transparently, making it easy for people to look up and verify ownership without worrying about falsifying documents.
The technology could also be used to track the food supply chain, from the product's origin to the consumer's table.
In the environmental arena, Blockchain helps track waste management processes, ensure accountability, and encourage recycling efforts by rewarding people for sustainable practices.
Dr. Tran Minh Tung - Director of FPT Danang School of Business and Technology - expects that in the next 5-10 years, the Internet of Things (IoT) will cover the entire city of Danang , with sensor stations for air quality, temperature or applications warning about traffic jams, waste discharge, etc. to help warn people and authorities in a timely manner.
Sharing about the difficulties in applying new technology in building smart cities, Mr. Nguyen Bao Anh said that there are many approaches to this, but what is necessary is a specific, systematic and long-term plan. Technologies such as AI, Blockchain or IoT… should be applied in the right place, in the right place to maximize efficiency.
Responding to this issue, Ms. Lynn Hoang also shared: “Implementing AI, IoT, Big Data and Blockchain requires a large investment in infrastructure and technology. For many cities, mobilizing and managing finance for these projects can be a challenge.
New technologies require specific skills and knowledge. Training people to manage and operate these systems is necessary but also challenging.”
Ms. Lynn Hoang believes that with new technologies, we should approach them intelligently and safely, not hastily but also not too rigidly. We can test them on a small scale to have a comprehensive assessment before applying them widely...
