The Telecommunications Authority (Ministry of Science and Technology) said that it is implementing procedures to organize an auction of the right to use mobile network code 95, corresponding to the prefix 095.
This is one of the prefixes that was once associated with SFone - a mobile network applying CDMA technology that appeared in Vietnam in 2003. After this network operator stopped operating in 2016, the prefix 095 was almost no longer exploited in the market.
According to the plan, the auction may be held at the end of June or early July. After completing the auction, network code 95 will be granted usage rights to businesses that fully meet the conditions according to regulations.
According to current regulations, organizations and businesses established and operating under Vietnamese law can participate in auctions if they own a license to provide mobile telecommunications services or a license to establish a virtual mobile telecommunications network (MVNO).
In addition to the requirement for an operating license, businesses participating in the auction must fully fulfill financial obligations related to the field of telecommunications and radio frequencies. These obligations include telecommunications operating rights fees, telecommunications number resource usage fees, frequency usage fees, radio frequency usage fees as well as contributions to the Vietnam Public Telecommunications Service Fund.
One of the notable conditions is that the winning bidder must commit to putting the network code into operation within a period of no more than 6 months from the date of allocation. This regulation aims to avoid the situation of number resource vacant or ineffective use.
Putting network code 95 up for auction is of great significance in the context of increasing demand for telecommunications digital resources. This activity contributes to optimizing the exploitation of the national number resource, while creating additional revenue for the state budget.
The number 095 has a certain advantage thanks to its ease of remembering and has been known to users during the strong development of the mobile market. However, the actual exploitation capacity will depend on the business strategy of the winning bidder as well as the development trend of the telecommunications market in the coming time.
Previously, in April 2026, the Telecommunications Authority successfully organized auctions of many beautiful telecommunications codes and numbers such as 1515, 5151, 6789 and 9999. The results showed the significant attraction of telecommunications digital resources when some codes were bid hundreds of millions of VND higher than the starting price.
Continuing to put network code 95 up for auction is considered the next step in the roadmap for commercialization and effective exploitation of state-owned telecommunications resources. At the same time, creating more opportunities to join or expand operations for businesses in the market.
