According to Apple Insider, this verification program was first announced by Meta in February with a subscription service called Meta Verified.
This is how people recognize who the owner of an account with a real blue tick is because it requires verification with an ID issued by the government.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described it as "a registered service that allows users to authenticate their accounts with ID, receive blue badges (blue ticks), have additional protection and have direct access to customer support."
Accounts participating in the verification program will be given blue ticks, proactively protect their accounts from Hacks, and various exclusive features, including stickers on Facebook, Instagram Stories, and Facebook Reels, as well as 100 Stars per month to express support for creators.
US, Australian and New Zealand users can register to use the verification program right now for 14.99 USD/month on iOS and Android, or 11.99 USD on the web.
To verify, users access Settings on Facebook (or Instagram), click on Accounts Center > Meta Verified. Then set up a payment method and provide ID.
However, Facebook users must activate two-factor authentication to be able to access the service.
In addition, unless they want to re-perform the verification process, the verified registered driver will not be able to change their profile name, photo, username or date of birth.
