On September 3, 2025, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed the Decisions to receive, transfer, and appoint leaders of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
In Decision No. 1880/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister received and appointed Mr. Le Van Loi - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to hold the position of President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
In Decision No. 1886/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister received and appointed Mr. Tran Hong Thai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council to hold the position of Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
The above decisions take effect from September 3, 2025.
Mr. Tran Hong Thai was born in 1974, from Can Loc, Ha Tinh province; graduated from university in Russia, defended his PhD thesis in Earth Sciences and Mathematics at Heidelberg University (Germany).
Mr. Tran Hong Thai was a researcher at the Institute of Hydrometeorology, then became the leader of this institute.
After that, Mr. Tran Hong Thai was transferred to the position of Deputy General Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. When the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting was converted to the General Department of Hydro-Meteorology, Mr. Thai held the position of Deputy General Director.
In April 2018, Mr. Tran Hong Thai was assigned to be in charge of the General Department and in March 2019 he was appointed General Director of the General Department of Hydrometeorology.
In Decision No. 1179/QD-TTg dated October 12, 2023, the Prime Minister transferred and appointed Mr. Tran Hong Thai - Director General of the Thuy Van Meteorological Agency to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.
After that, he was transferred and appointed to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, holding the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee.
After the restructuring of the apparatus and merging the province, Mr. Tran Hong Thai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee was appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term.
