Some websites take advantage of Google Chrome features such as notifications or access rights to carry out scams. In response to this situation, Chrome is currently updating additional security changes to protect users.
Notable among them is the new and improved “Safety Check” feature. This feature works automatically in the background, proactively protecting you by revoking permissions from unused websites, flagging potentially unwanted notifications, and alerting you to any security concerns. The desktop version will also warn you about dangerous extensions and provide an easy tool to remove them.
Additionally, the "Security Check" feature keeps you updated with the latest security patches, checks for at-risk passwords, and customizes the level of protection.
Managing notifications from unwanted websites just got easier. On Pixel devices and soon on many other Android devices, users can unsubscribe right from the notification panel.
Additionally, one-time permissions on Chrome for Android and desktop give users more control over data sharing. You can grant permissions like camera or microphone to a website in just one use, helping protect privacy.
Google says these new features won't solve all online security issues, but they will make it easier to troubleshoot issues and prevent more serious ones. These are helpful improvements that will be rolled out to all Chrome browsers over time.
