Europe's largest nuclear plant bombed
A car bomb at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhia, killed a senior security official on the morning of October 4. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the homemade bomb was placed under Andrey Korotky’s car, leading to the explosion and his death.
Ukraine's military intelligence agency praised the incident but did not accept responsibility. Plant director Yury Chernichuk condemned it as a "terrorist act", while Russia has opened a criminal investigation into the murder.
US plane carrying 197 people crashed
A Frontier Airlines plane carrying 197 passengers and crew caught fire during an emergency landing at Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, on the evening of October 5.
According to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident occurred when the crew detected smoke in the cockpit. Despite the danger, the Airbus 321 landed safely. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire from one engine. All passengers and crew were safe, and no casualties were reported.
US announces sanctions on funds supporting Hamas
The United States imposed sanctions on an international fundraising organization on October 7, accusing it of providing financial support to the militant group Hamas. The US Ministry of Finance said the funds were funneling money to Hamas instead of Palestinians affected by the war.
Senior Hamas representatives in Germany, Austria and Italy were targeted in the sanctions. The US estimates that Hamas receives about $10 million a month in fake funds.

North Korea to permanently close border with South Korea
On October 9, North Korea announced that it would permanently close its southern border with South Korea. Pyongyang announced that it would completely cut off all roads and railways connecting the two sides, calling this a "major military move."
North Korea also sent a message to the US military to prevent unwanted clashes, a move seen as a self-defense measure against South Korea's military exercises and the presence of US strategic nuclear assets in the region.
